This is a stunning example of a WWI dated British issued Enfield P14 rifle complete with matching bolt and both front vollley and rear dioptor sight, these are normally missing. The woodwork speaks for itself! The rifle was made by Winchester in 1917 during the First World War and chambered in British .303. In total Winchester only delivered in the region of 225,000 -235,000 P14s during WWI, with the final batch being received in July 1917. This examples was shipped from America and once received in the UK it was then inspected and stamped with British military acceptance markings (broad arrow or crows foot) before being issued into service. During the Second World War these WWI P14s were brought back into service and reissued to Home Guard units around the UK. They are now most commonly associated with the classic British WWII sitcom 'Dads Army'. Deactivated to currect specifications with full moving parts.
