Krag Jorgensen M1912 carbine or short rifle, chambered in 6.5 x 55

This is a Krag Jorgensen M1912 carbine or short rifle, chambered in 6.5 x 55. Dated 1923 it was manufactured at the Norwegian Kongberg factory and is one of only 30,000 Model 1912s that were made. The Krag magazine loading system is unique. It has a distinctive magazine that is integral with the receiver. It has an opening on the right hand side with a hinged cover to make loading quicker. This clever design allows rounds to be inserted through the side opening, and pushed up, around, and into the action by a spring follower. Very clever and advanced for the time. In 1940 Norway was invaded by German forces, Norwegian forces were armed with these Krag's but were soon overwhelmed by the German "Blitzkrieg". Post war this rifle was sporterized and most likely used for hunting.

This Krag was recently imported by us and has just passed UK proof and is ready to shoot. The bore is in good condition. It can be deactivated to order.
