Rare Israeli DROR Light Machine Gun (second pattern) chambered in 7.92mm. In the aftermath of World War II the newly created nation of Israel needed infantry weaponry to defend itself against its many Arab enemies. Although the world was awash in efficient and cheap surplus small arms it wasn't easy for the tiny Jewish state to import them, so it became necessary to quickly develop a domestic arms industry. One of the first guns they made was a modified copy of the US M1944 Johnson light machine gun, both in .303 British (first pattern) and 7.92mm Mauser calibre (second pattern), called the DROR. Only 3000-4000 second patterns were ever made. This being number 2613th. This example is in excellent condition with a Parkerized finish, matching numbers and would be perfect for a re enactor, who wanted a 1944 Johnson, as used by the 1st Special Service Force, parachute unit and a battalion of Marine Raiders. Deactivated with a full working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
