Deactivated WWII Nazi MG42 Light Machine Gun in stunning condition with matching numbers and stock. This weapon was captured by Russian forces during WWII. The original makers codes have been removed, but are still partially visible . It now bears the Russian Izhevsk factory mark. Russia was in a pretty desperate situation during World War Two, and needed all the arms they could get their hands on. The newly arrived masses of German soldiers offered one source, and the German weapons were generally pretty good. So lots of captured German machine guns were used by Red Army soldiers. Enough that Russian language manuals were printed to instruct soldiers on the proper use and maintenance of the MG42. This one was most likely captured as the German army retreated from Russian. The stock has metal strengthening bands to prevent the wood splitting. This often occurred during the bitterly cold Russian winters. Still in great condition with original Nazi WaA stamps, this is an excellent wartime piece with lots history behind it, and wouldn't look out of place in a museum. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. Comes with inert 7.92mm rounds and belt.
