Deactivated RARE Chilean Contract M1935 Carbine

The Chilean Contract M1935 Carbine is one of the more unusal Mauser contracts. In the mid 1930s Chile ordered 10,000 of these carbines to arm its military, national guard and intelligence agencies. Based on the German Mauser G98 action they have some unique features not seen on any other carbine. For example the Chilans requested that the sling be permenantly fixed with an additional hoop to allow the carbine to be attached to a rider whilst on horseback. The front sight has distictive protective wings and slides in a "dovetail" slot for easy adjustment. All visible serial numbers are matched and the stock bears the original Chilean acceptance carcouches. This example is number 9925th from the only batch of 10,000 ever made!
