WW2 Fairbairn Sykes 2nd Pattern Fighting Knife

This is an original WW2 Fairbairn Sykes 2nd Pattern Fighting Knife, made by Wilkinson. This example is one of the most sought after with the etched blade, which albeit very feint is still visible, reading 'The F-S Fighting Knife". The 2nd Pattern F-S knife featured a finely knurled brass hilt, thick steel crossguard and hand ground blade, doing away with the earlier square ricasso of the 1st pattern. This knife has its original leather scabbard which, as was common of the period, has had its 4 tabs and retaning elastic strap removed.
