This is a Webley-Bentley percussion revolver that was retailed by J. Gordon. Elgin. This revolvers dates to between the late 1850’s to the mid 1860’s. These guns provided less expensive alternatives to the Adams and Tranter patent revolvers of the day. The primary cost savings was in the use of a 2-piece frame and barrel design, similar to that of Colt revolvers, with the two parts held together via a “wedge”. This example being sold by J. Gordon. Elgin in Scotland. A James Gordon is recorded at 184 High Street, Elgin as a Gunmaker and Fishing Rod Manufacturer in 1861. This revolver is missing a trigger return spring and one percussion nipple. Both could be sourced and would make this revolver ideally suited for light restoration. The bore is still in good condition with strong even rifling throughout. It will cock, strip and dry fire. The calibre measures around 10mm or .40 inches.

This is an antique obsolete calibre pistol and can be owned live without any form of license, and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
