This is a very rare named Russian Berdan MKII model 1870, bolt action rifle. It is a single shot bolt action rifle with a distinctive short, pear-shaped cocking handle. Dated 1880 it has the Imperial Russian double headed eagle cypher stamped on the top receiver flat. The Berdan rifle was used in many Russian conflicts and wars including the Russian Revolution, WWI and Winter War with Finland in 1939. Berdan rifles are seldom seen in the UK and for this reason alone are very desirable. This example has the a Russian soldiers name hand carved into the woodwork. It looks to be "А ВсМ АГК АиП". АГК could be the soldiers initials and ВсМ is psoosible an old version of the ВСМ - the Russian Marines?

The bore is still in very good condition with good strong rifling throughout, and the action is crisp and smooth. It has a full working action.

This lovely rifle is chambered in an obsolete calibre (10.66mm x 57R) and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.

It is not deactivated in any way and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
