Rare WWII British Tank Regiment Long Drop leg Holster

This is a rare WWII British Tank Regiment "long drop leg holster". Originally this example was worn low on the upper thigh and strapped to the leg in an attempt to prevent it snagging. Although not ideal many were modified by shortening the top strap so it rested closer to the hip and removing the securing strap so it hung loose, as can be seen on this one. The top of the strap has been cut down and re-stitched and inside is the unit or weapon number confirming that it was issued and used by a member of the Tank regiment. Eventually this unofficial modification was to become a standard type and in 1943 and new holsters started being manufactured.
