Rare WWI German Armours Field Converted Ersatz Bayonet

This is a very rare and unique WWI German field converted Gew98 Ersatz bayonet. The blade is from a Bavarian 1869 Werder Bayonet that was manufactured by Weyersberg & Stamm - W & ST, Solingen and has been attached to a Gew98 Ersatz bayonet handle. These types of field conversion were made throughout the Great War using whatever was to hand to keep troops armed. The bayonet can be fitted to a standard Gew98 or KAR98. The blade has been crudely resharped in an attempt to keep it sharp and affective whilst in service. A fascinating piece of First World War history.
