This is a rare Tower made percussion pistol. This type of large pistol is referred to as a Martial pistol being used by the British military. It dates to between 1820 to 1850 and has the correct period British proof and bore size (16 bore) stamped on the barrel. Just visible above this are the issue numbers and on the right side are the additional numbers ? 205. The lock bears two sets of Royal Cypher crown's and Tower stamps, this indicates that it was most likely a flintlock and then converted to percussion. Supporting this are the multipul imprints left in the woodwork by the jaws of a brench vice. On the inside of the lock and on the hammer are British inspectors stamps crown over 2 & 3. At some stage during its life post 1894, when chrome plating was first invented, this pistol was plate. This suggests it was of great importance to the owner as chrome plating would have been expensive. It may have been an officers sidearm or person of considerable wealth? In places the plated finish has become worn indicating that it was done a long time ago. A fascinating and rare British pistol.

This is an antique obsolete calibre pistol and can be owned live without any form of license, and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
