Rarely encounter a WW2 German M24 stick grenade with matching makers and dates to both handle and canister. Both are stamped with the date code 42 = 1942 and maker code "evy" = Wilhelm von Hagen Metallwarenfabrik, Iserlohn Westfalen, who before the war manufactured specalist fittings for interior decoration, for stoves, ovens and iron furniture. Incredibly the screw on cap still retains the spring that held the paper washer, and the canister retains much of it original factory paint. Included is an original porcelain ball with pull cord. 1942 was the last year the cap spring was used after which it was omitted from the design. This canister has a significant dent which strongly suggests it failed to detonate upon impact... !!

The "Stielhandgranate" or hand stick grenade was the standard infantry grenade used throughout WW2. Often nicked named the "Potato Masher" by troops.
