P1853 Enfield Dated 1865 Three Band Musket

This is a British made P-1853 Enfield three band percussion musket. Just visible on the lock are the British military markings. The Royal Cypher; Crown over VR, Enfield name and dated of 1865? with the broad arrow acceptance stamps. The brass butt plate has faint remnants of the regiment it was once issued to. The P-1853 musket was the main stream longarm of the British army from 1853 until 1867, seeing service with British and Commonwealth forces around the world. Large quantities were also supplied to the America during the US Civil War (1861 to 1865).

This lovely example has strong firm action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
