This is a unique British military issued Martini Henry MKII .577 rifle that has been cut down into a carbine. The receiver bears the Royal Cypher with the initals VR and Enfield makers name. Below is the date stamp that is almost illegible with just the first and last digits of 1 and 5 bearly visible. The rifle has clearly suffered considerable damage at some stage and was cut down and repurposed as a carbine. The regimental brass disc reads "5 1898 92 R.G.A 142" this is an abbreviation for May 1898. 92nd Royal Garrison Artillery, weapon number 142nd.
It is chambered in an obsolete calibre .577/450 and can therefore be owned live without any form of license.
The carbine can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. The bore is in superb condition throughout and is being sold as a collectors piece only.
