Martini Henry Rifle Bayonet & Scabbard

This is a Martini Henry rifle bayonet & scabbard. This variant is referred to as the 1887 MK3. The bayonet is dated "3 '94" March 1894 and bears the correct WD War Department and Royal Cypher "VR" acceptance stamps. The scabbard is very unusual being dated 1923, and is fitted with a brass lock and chape, often associated with Royal Navy issued weaponry. The script on the cross guard indicates that is also in military service with coloniel forces.
