Inert WW1 German Smoke Grenade

This is a First World War German "Stielhandgranaten" or Hand Stick Grenade. The first models were introduced in 1915 with several design changes made in 1916 and 1917. This example is the smoke variant with the belt hoop bracket on the canister. They were still in use during WW2 being issued as late as 1945 arming the Volkssturm in the latter stages of the war.
