This is a WWII Russian Maxim model 1910 Machine gun with Sokolov Wheeled Carriage. Manuafctured at the Izhevsk Arsenal in 1943, this example has its wartime painted finish. Invented by Hiram Maxim in 1883, the Maxim was the first true heavy machine gun and was capable of firing 500 rounds per minute. The water jacket is fitted with a "snow hopper" cap. The Russian realized that in freezing winter conditions there was no need to use water to cool the barrel, instead they would fill it with snow. When snow wasn't available it was not uncommon for troops to urinate into the hopper to cool the barrel!! The Maxim was ideal for surpressing fire and could be easily maneuvered in the confines of street battles.

Deactivated with tensioned cocking lever and trigger. It comes with an EU/UK deactivation certificate.
