This is one of the more scarce WWII Russian M38 carbines. Dated 1945 it was made at the Izhevsk factory. The Izhevsk factory was responsible for making the majority of the M38 carbines during WWII, producing nearly 2.5 million from 1939 until 1944. However 1945 saw very few completed. Estimates based on known serial numbers are in the region of between 40,000 to 50,000. When this figure is compared to the four previous years;
1941 - 419,605
1942 - 687,426
1943 - 978,297
1944 - 167,000
Only 1939 saw fewer made.
The carbine is deactivated with a working action.
