This is a Second World War Springfield M1903 rifle that was manufactured Remington Arms who only made this model for one year during the war. In 1942 Remington made just one batch of M1903 rifles after which they started making the 1903A3 & A4 models. Serial numbers ran from 3,000,001 to 3,348,085 with this rifle being number 3,047,842 making it gun no 47,841st. The barrel is correctly marked with the month and date code 7 42 = July 1942 and has the US ordnance flaming grenade. The initials SA signify that the barrel was made by the Springfield Armory and then supplied to Remington. Deactivated to current specifcations with moving bolt and trigger.
