This is a Second World War issued Russian M38 carbine with matching numbers. The model of 1938 is the shortened variant of the M91 infantry rifle. Introduced in 1938 it was widespread use by Russian forces through WW2. Often a preferred weapon of choice being easier to use in the confines of urban warfare. This example has definitely seen service after which it was repaired and refurbished at the Russian state arsenal. The manor of repair would indicate that this carbine was put back into service quickly. The armourer has made no attempt to remove any of the old serial numbers. Included are 5 inert 7.62mm rounds with clip and a canvas sling. Deactivated with a working action.
