This is a Second World War Bren MK1m dated 1942. It was made by Inglis, Canada who supplied Bren's to British and the Commonwealth forces throughout the war. The MK1m was a simplified version of the MK1 designed to help increase output numbers. Post WW2 this Bren was then used as a training gun and marked DP meaning Drill Purpose. New recruits would be trained in all aspects of weapons handling, including how to strip and maintain a Bren and take part in military exercises. This example is covered in various wartime and post markings.
