This is a late Second World War Nazi K98 that was manufactured in 1944 by Gustloff Werke, who were the first of the K98 manufactures to use a single digit date code. During this period of the war materials were running out and production had to be simplified seeing the introduction of the "Kriegsmodell" K98's. As essential raw materials became increasingly hard to find Gustloff Werke started modifying MG34 barrels and ftting to K98's. This is also reflected in their output figures only making some 348,081 rifles in 1944. This example is correctly stamped with the Waffen acceptance Eagle over 749. Deactivated with a working action.
