This is a genuine WW2 German armourers field repaired MG34 machine gun. Whilst in service this gun suffered considerable damage which then required the forward section of the gun, the barrel jacket to be replaced. Note the jacket block has no maker markings or date codes. This is because it was a spare part held by field armourers to repair damaged guns. We have also had confirmation of this by Folke Myrvang, author and one of the worlds leading experts on everything MG34 & MG42. We sent him detailed imagines of this guns and he kinding replied stating the following "The gun is put together from parts. The barrel jacket is most likely an un-numbered armorers part that has replaced a damaged barrel jacket."
The markings on the receiver indicate this gun was made by Gustloff Werke in 1940 who only used Nazi acceptance WaA4. The serial number 8359e with an E suffix was only used by them in 1940 and the jacket makers code would have been "936" . Known serial numbers from the Folke Myrvang's book "The MG34 -MG42 German Universal Machine Guns" for this maker in 1940 are from 1680e to 9869f. The gun has clearly seen extensive service not only having a replacement barrel jacket but also a top cover.
If you are looking for an MG34 that has definitely seen active service and been repaired then this is the one for you!
Deactivated very sympathetically and with a working action.
