A Mauser C96 Schnellfeuer pistol with wooden shoulder stock. The serial number is circa 1932-33, around the first or second year of production! Around 98,000 or so were ever made with production ceasing is 1936. "Schnellfeuer" means “fast fire”, with the pistol capable of fully automatic fire. Other designations that it was given were the M1932 or M712.
The Schnellfeuer was chambered in 7.63mm, a nonstandard German military calibre and deemed unsuitable for frontline troops. The majority were issued to the Waffen SS and other Nazi paramilitary organisations. They were hugely popular within these groups and units and were used to great effect throughout WWII, and along with the PO8 Luger, the Schnellfeuer was a very popular bring back by Allied troops. Quantities were also supplied to the Chinese who were then pro Nazi, this late changed after Japan invaded China, the Second Sono-Japanese War (1937 to 1945).
Deactivated with a working action.
