This is a rare German Lignose model 2A pistol set. This unusual and unique pistol was originally design by Louis Schmeisser, who was involved in the designed of many ground breaking and iconic weapons, his most well known being the MP41, used during WW2. The Schmeisser name is often incorrectly used and associated with the Nazi MP40 sub-machine gun.

The Lignose was initially manufactured by Waffenfabrik Bergmann from 1912 to 1922, after which production was taken over by Lignose AG from 1922 to 1928. The clever design and name "Einhand", which was German for "one-handed", gave the user the ability to cock and fire with just one hand by pulling the trigger guard back to cock the pistol. Production numbers are estimated to no higher than 55,000. This example is number 43,939 and dates to around 1926.

This rare pistol comes with its original leather holster and spare magazine. The pistol, holster and magazine have all clearly been together since issue. The leather has become molded to the contours and unique shape of pistol and has reacted with the finish on the left side of the pistols slide.

This set would have been owed by a private individual as a personal protection sidearm. Deactivated current specifications with a moving slide and trigger.
