This is a superb condition Second World War issued Enfield MK6 .455 revolver, dated 1923 with broad arrow markings. The pistol grip is regimentally marked "A.A. 12.39" = Anti Aircraft December 1939". Air raid sirens first sounded in London on 3 September 1939, the day war was declared. Britains coastal and city anti aircraft defences were quickly increased as the threat from bombing and invasion grew ever nearer. The Luftwaffe bombing campaign began in June 1940. This revolver was issued to a memeber of the British anti aircraft divisions who needed to  be armed when dealing with capturing downed Luftwaffe pilots.

The Enfield MK6 is far rarer than the Webley examples as Royal Small Arms Factory at Enfield only produced these in very limited numbers from 1921-1926 only. This one is in very good condition with matching numbers and a low serial number (number 4790). During WWII UK forces were issued with the Mark 6 to supplement the shortage of .38s, and the familiar .455 Webley / Enfield remained the favoured sidearm of many British officers . Included is an orignal MK6 leather holster, lanyard cord and six inert .455 rounds.
