This Second World War Bren MKI was made in 1941 by Lithgow, who only made 17,429 Bren's between 1940 to 1945. They produced just two batches, the first batch being numbered from A0001 to A9999. This Bren is from that first batch and is serial number A333 meaning it is gun number 333rd. Post WW2 it required repair / refurbishment and was marked "MA/53/FTR." which means  Munition or Made in Australia 1953 Factory Through Repaired. This is also a very good indication that it saw active during the war. A great many of the Lithgow's Bren's were issued to the ANZAC's (Australian and New Zealand Army Corps) who saw service all over the world including Europe, The Middle east and Asia, on land, sea and air. Included is the corrct MA marked magazine and a sling. Deactivated with a working action.
