This is a WWI German Imperial army issued Dreyse 1907 pistol with matching numbers. This pistol was issued to the German Imperial army and bears the Gothic military acceptance stamp above the extractor port along with commercial proof stamps. The serial number falls within the known contracted pistols procured by the German army during the war. In Jan Still's book "Central Powers Pistols" which covers this model in detail, he has listed gun number 110,049 with army acceptance stamps that is from the same batch as this example which is number 110109 just guns 60 above. They were issued to German officers during both world wars and the German police in the 1920 and 30’s. The pistol was designed by Louis Schmeisser in 1905-06 with production ending in 1915. A very unique looking and somewhat unorthodox design the pistol is beautiful engineered being cocked by pushing the slide from the front and with the ability to hinging open without having to remove the slide. At the rear is a firing pin indicator that shows when the pistol is cocked. Deactivated with a working action
