This is a mid First World War dated German KAR98AZ carbine. Dated 1916, it was manufactured by Erfurt and bears the correct Imperial German Army acceptance stamps. The carbine has matching serial numbers to all parts with exception of the bolt which has been taken from a Gew98, both rifles sharing the same actions making bolts interchangable. The original matched woodwork bears many old battle scars and is indicative of a weapon thats seen active service. Those that survived WW1 were back in service during the 1920s (Weimar period) and WW2 - Nazi era. Considered to be aging weapon by Nazi Army procurement many were initially issued to newly formed SS units.
This example is brand new to the deactivation market having recently been found and handed in. Deactivated to current specifications with a moving bolt actin and trigger. It is currently at the Proof House being certficated.
