This is beleived to be a WW1 era commercial SMLE that was procured by the British Navy. Below the bolt safety catch bracket is a faint capital letter N. This was only used by the British Navy when marking thier weapons, as is the placement on SMLE rifles. The rifle is virtually all matching numbers with the exception of the bolt which is just 1,176 below the rifles serial number. Both rifle and bolt are from the same batch produced by BSA. The stock bears several various rack / inventory numbers and has a text book British armourers repaired. The brass butt-stock is WW2 issued and is stamped with the wartime dispersal code M/216 with a Broad Arrow acceptance.
Deactivated to current specifications with a moving bolt action and trigger. The magazine is removable and is perfect working order. The rifle is available and is currently at the Proof House being certficated.
