This is a rare 1942 dated Webley & Scott MKIV (4) .38 145/200 revolver. This revolver was originally destine for commercial sales but was instead procured by the British army to help supplement the shortage of Enfield No. 2 revolvers. These revolvers can be clearly indentified by the commercial and military markings. Note the calibre designation of .38 145/200, Pat numbers, Webley name and positioning of "WAR FINISH", only found on this model.  The vast majority of these revolvers produced from 1940 to 1942 were issued to the British SOE and French Resistance including various underground forces in occupied European countries. They can sometimes be seen in the hands of these brave men and women in original wartime footage and training films. Due to their association with the SOE and Resistance, this model was not offically adpoted into military service until 1945.
