Deactivated RPD light machine gun

This is a communist RPD light machine gun with drum magazine. RPD is an abbreviation for Ruchnoy Pulemyot Degtyaryova, translated: Degtyaryov hand-held machine gun. It is superbly designed and dependable weapon firing the same ammunition as the AK47. Originally conceived and designed in 1944, the RPD replaced the DP light machine gun and saw action in many conflicts including Korea and Vietnam, with many are still in service today. Examples have been seen in use in Ukraine. A great display item. Deactivated with a working action.
