This is a very rare Simson Model 1926 pocket pistol. As the name suggests it was first introduced in 1926. This pistol is a very early example and would appear to be one of, if not the earliest known example being number 1726. The model 1926 is often referred to as the Model 1927 but differs by virtue of only having 7 serrations on the slide grip. The Model 27 has 8. Simson, a Jewish owned company had a somewhat checkered history. They made rifles, carbines and machine guns during WW1 and were awarded contacts to make Luger's in the 1920s which angered its rivals. After Hitler came to power in the early 1930s their fate soon changed. As a Jewish owned company they were forced out of business and the company owners jailed by the Nazis. Simson was then taken over and renamed BSW - Berlin-Suhler Waffen- und Fahrzeugwerke, who went on to make K98'a and MG34 and other weapons during WW2. This unique looking pistol was only ever made in very small numbers. Estimates are less than 20,000 were ever made. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked and dry fired.
