This is a rare Galand .320 revolver with a very low serial number. The barrel, frame, cylinders and trigger are all numbered 8. The proof marking date this revolver to circa 1880s. Charles Galand from Liege Belgium emigrated to Paris, France in the 1870s and started making these unique little revolvers with a barrel hinge system to remove the cylinders for reloading. The folding trigger can only cock the action by being pushed forward, preventing accidental discharge. They proved popular as personal protection guns among gentry who were targeted by robbers. Deactivated with a working action and clear chambers.
