Deactivated Charles Osborne & Co Double Barrel Shotgun

This is a Charles Osborne & Co, London, Double Barrel 12 bore shotgun. Charles Osborne was a gunmaker of considerable importance not only producing high quality firearms but also within the trade, being appointed a Guardian of the Birmingham Proof House in the late 1850s. This appointment indicates that he was one of the most important men in the Birmingham gun trade during this period. Initially located in Birmingham he also had premisses in London and supplied provincial makers such as Holland & Holland with shotguns, and other gun makers with all types of shotguns and rifles. He also made revolvers and is known to have made key design improvements to Colt type revolvers from this period. This particular shotgun was in its a day and expensive gun featuring twin Damascus barrels, a rotory release catch and engraved locks and hammers. The stock and foregrip look to be Walnut.
