Deactivated AKM (AK47) Assault Rifle

This is possibly the most instantly recognisable variant from the AK47 series, the AKM (Kalashnikov's Automatic Rifle Modernised). This model has become infamous with communist, terrorist and guerrilla forces around the world. The wooden stock, foregrips and banana magazine make it easily identifiable. The AKM first came great notority when US forces encountered it in Vietnam in the hands of the communist forces. Its hard hitting 7.62mm round was far superior in comparison the US AR15 / M16's 5.56mm ammunition. When captured US troops would often use them in favour of their own weapons. It was simple, durable and more importantly reliable. For these reasons it has now become one of the most prolific weapons in the world. This example has definitely seen active service with a war weary finish but still retaining its original matched top cover.
