Indian Pattern Browning Bess Flintlock Musket

This is an Indian pattern Brown Bess flintlock musket with a bore of 0.75". The lock is inscribed with the date 1797 and initials EIC for the East India Company. The Indian Pattern Brown Bess was the standard infantry musket in service between 1797 and 1854 being used for guarding and protecting property and assets of the Empire. The Brown Bess in all forms saw active service from the Napoleonic wars through the to Zulu wars, one was even used in 1862, during the American civil war. This example is unit marked on the stock with a wonderful patinated finish to the working parts, evidence of extensive use to the frizzen whilst retaining a nice crisp action. Included is a period leather sling and ram rod.
This rare musket is chambered in an obsolete calibre and can be owned live without any form of license. It has a full working action and can be cocked, stripped and dry fired. It is being sold as a collectors piece only.
