Deactivated WW2 BSA SMLE dated 1939 - Dunkirk Era
- Product Code: 68226
- Availability: Out Of Stock
This, 1939 dated SMLE has to be a contender for a rifle that may have been used by British forces (BEF) during the infamous evacuation of Dunkirk. This rifle was made by BSA from existing stocks of MK3 SMLE's with the provision for a magazine cut off, and still retains its original barrel and rear sights. The rifle bears many battle scars, areas of pitting, repairs and British military Suncorite paint that was used by armourers as a quick and effective finish after repairs were completed. The pitting to exposed metal parts is most commonly from attack by salt water. The worn area around the date stamp have been caused by the soldiers finger constantly rubbing against it from repeat firing!!! If you are looking for a British rifle that's definitely seen service during WW2, then this is the one to own!! Deactivated with a working action. The rifle is available and is awaiting a replacement deactivation certificate at the proof house. This will not affect its deactivation status.
