This is a WW2 Thompson M1928A1 submachine gun that has been in service with the British Commandos and/or Airborne. The gun has some unique and unusual features and markings. The stock has been fitted with a replacement metal butt-cap attached with three screws. Originally it would have had a trap door to access the stock cavity. This is almost certainly an armourers field repair. Both sling swivels have been repositioned - this is most commonly associated with weapons that were issued and used by British Commando and Airborne units. On the receiver are the initials "AO-45" , this signifies that this gun went through Mcguire Industries Inc (Auto-Ordnance) in 1945 for repair or rebiuld and is a clear indication that it saw active service. A well travelled Thompson thats definitely seen service with both US and UK forces!! Deactivated with a working action.
