This is a genuine Webley No1 "Royal Irish Constabulary" (R.I.C.) marked revolver. The frame is marked with the Webley winged bullet logo above which are "Webley's R.I.C. No1 .476 CF". The serial number 75728 dates to before the First World War. The top strap is stamped with P. Webley & Son, London & Birmingham. The RIC revolver was introduced by Webley in 1867, after which they soon secured a contract to supply them to the Royal Irish Constabulary (R.I.C.) in January 1868. Many were also bought as private purchases by officers and gentry, remaining in production for some 30 years. This fine example works of both double and single actions and has a very firm and precise action! Deactivated sympathicially with a working action.
