This WWII German MG42 is possible the best example of its type available ! The makers code "BNZ" is that of Steyr and the year of manufacturing code "PJ" was only used by them in 1943 and early 1944. Steyr made an estimated 36,000 MG42s in 1943. The serial number falls within the known range used on guns made that year. The receiver carries the correct Nazi Waffen acceptance stamp WaA623. The tripod legs are from an original MG34 that were converted during WWII using existing stocks. A truly exceptional MG42 that is a museum worthy example.
