This is a scarce Chinese PPSH41 Type 50 submachine gun dated 1953 with all visible numbers matching. The markings on the receiver denote that this example was made at the Chinese 626 Factory. In 1950 North Korea began its invasion of South Korea armed largely with Soviet weapons such as the Model PPSh41 or, as it was referred to then "the Burp Gun". The Type 50 was also widely fielded by Communist North Vietnamese forces during the Vietnam War (1955 to 1975). The simple and clever design of the PPSH made it ideally suited to jungle warfare.
