This is a rare WWII German contract G98/40 rifle (rare variant). These rifles were produced in Hungary by Fémáru Fegyver és Gépgyár, Budapest, using the Puska 35M (Mannlicher Model 35) as the base rifle with the addition of the K98 bayonet lug and re chambered in German 7.92mm. Production only ran from 1941 to 1944 with very few produced each year. This example is dated 1942 with only an estimated 28,000 produced that year. Every single part matches including the bolt assembly and wood work. Marked with the correct German Nazi code 'jhv' and waffen stamp 173. This is example also differs from the standard model and has three additional sling hoops. These are rifles are seldom seen. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
