An inert WWII US army M49A2 60mm mortar round. Dated 1942 with its original olive drab paint and head. It consists of a hollow body, fin assembly that screws on the rear of the body, and M525 fuze that is attached to the front of the round. It was fired from the M2 mortar that was used in Europe and against the Japanese. The US entered the Second World War is December 1941, after the attack on Pearl Harbor by the Japanese. This round would have been among the first batches of M49A2 mortars produced in 1942.
