This is the fully automatic version of the SLR L1A1. The L2A1 was basically the L1A1 fitted with a heavy barrel, selective fire capability, 30 round box magazine and a folding bipod and was considered a replacement for the ageing BAR or Bren. Less then 10,000 were produced between 1962 and 1982. They were used by Aussie forces and some special forces units, seeing service in the Vietnam war. This example has matching numbers and is marked with the initials "SPF" that maybe an abbreviation for "Special Purpose Force". It also an early example dating to 1964 and is number 1329th. It is also broad arrow stamped and comes with correct canvas sling and 30 & 20 magazines. Deactivated with a working action it can be cocked, stripped and dry fired.
