This is a rare WWII "BSW" coded German K98. The initials BSW stand for "Berlin-Suhler Waffen und Fahrzuegerke". BSW were the only K98 manufacturer permitted to use their company logo on the carbines they produced. Their K98 production was also very small and short lived, 1937 to 1939. During this period the only managed to make in total 135,000 K98s, with just an estimated 60,000 in 1938. This one is a very early example from that year. The serial number 1462a is around number 10,204th from that years production. Very few now exist and are seldom encountered.
During WWII this K98 was stationed in Norway and would have been issued to a member of either Army or Navy branches of the Nazi regime whilst under occupation. Post war it used by the Norwegian Army.
