Deactivated WWII Daimler Motor Company Bren MKII
- Product Code: 1MOD5
- Availability: Out Of Stock
This is a rare British manufactured Bren MKII variant from World War Two. Although dated 1942 the receiver was made in 1941 (stamped '41) with final assembly completed in 1942. Above the 1942 date is the initial D. This could easily be mistaken for an Enfield mark but is in fact the mark of the Daimler Motor Company who were contracted to manufacture Brens as part of the Monotype Corporation. The serial number S6924 confirms this to be an early example from their first year of production and only the second batch of 9,999 completed in 1942. Monotypes second batch of serial numbers ran from S1 to S9999, this one is S6924, meaning it is Bren number 16,923rd. Monotype Corp only produced 83,438 Brens from 1942 until the end of the war. Although similar, the Bren MKII differs from the MKI with many simplified parts fitted to aid and speed up production. A rear leaf sight, fixed charging handle, simplified stock and non-adjustable bipod legs were just some of the parts changed.
