Product Information

A fascinating WWI & WWII Vickers Machine Gun Tripod Transit Chest. Stenciled on the lid is the name "Moorebank" this refers the fascility stationed in the Liverpool district,  Australia. Initially set up for infantry training and later on for the armoured fighting vehicle centre, school of military engineering, REME and ordnance stores. During WWII over 40,000 troops were trained there. The Vickers tripod in this chest would have been shipped to Moorebank for use by these new recruits. The initials MT 12/7/36 would indicate that this chest was also assigned to the Motor Transport section 12th July 1936. Post WWII in 1949 it was assigned the Liverpool Training School (L.T.S.). We have pictured the chest with an Aussie tripod in situ - this is not available or included with the chest. However it will be available with the WWII Lithgow Vickers that we will be listing shortly.
