American world war II sub machine gun .45 calibre old-specification. Can be dry fired and field stripped. These cheaply made but highly effective weapons were used through world war II and Korea with great success and were copied by the Chinese. This particular example was made in the USA by the Ithaca gun company.
The Grease gun entered service with the US forces in 1942 and was produced in response to the need for a cheap, easily mass produced submachine gun, as the Thompson was an expensive and slow to manufacture weapon, even in its M1A1 variant.
