Deactivated Hotchkiss Universal SMG

This is a Hotchkiss "Universal" submachine gun. This gun folds up into a very compact unit, this made it perfect for airborne troops and confined spaces such as armoured vehicles or helicopters. A very clever and unique design concept. It was only in production from 1949 to 1952 with only very small units produced. This example is number 1605 and has its original factory finish and comes fitted with a correct leather sling. This examples differs from almost all other examples by virtue of its early and very clever deactivation. The entire gun can be folded or collasped into it transport configuration. Deactivated with a working action. A rare find indeed!!!
